Use the chart in the image to the left to determine the recommended die clearance based off the material thickness you're punching. The punch and die should NOT be the same size.
How do I verify this is the punch I need?
What is the largest F20 round hole size I can punch?
The largest round hole that can be punched with a F20 round punch is 1-1/4" diameter.
If you need a larger hole, oversized punching attachments or other punch styles may be required depending on your ironworker machine. Contact us if you need help selecting the right tooling.
How do I find the corresponding die for a F20 round punch?
How do I determine the correct punch and die clearance?
The proper die clearance depends on the type and thickness of the material you're punching. Softer, thinner materials require less clearance, while harder, thicker materials require more. Use the clearance chart above to determine whether to add 1/32", 1/16", 3/32", or 1/8" to your punch diameter when selecting a die.
How do I get the longest life out of my punch?
To maximize punch life:
Following these guidelines will help reduce wear and extend the life of both your punch and die.
